The Harrogate Project

A Modern Take on a Rustic Home

Harrogate is a stunning gem settled in the heart of Yorkshire. It’s full of gorgeous houses, kind people and an abundance of local businesses. Residents prioritise maintaining the gleam of their homes to match the community’s standards. Our client has a beautiful home that’s nestled at the side of the road It gives an immediate sense of wonder, with a wooden frame that borders the door, welcoming you in. There was only one problem: while the Victorian house itself had stood the test of time, giving a rustic feel, the back and front garden had aged substantially and didn’t give the same homely appearance.

The Problem

The Problem: While the client was in love with their house, they weren’t enthralled with their garden. The area to the front was an overgrown mass of bushes which deemed it an unusable space. Our client wanted something understated but with subtle details like the house itself, at the same time enhancing the home’s curb appeal. The back garden was a larger space but was also just used as an area to store the kids toys. A lot of concrete, no life and no colourS The client wanted something that they could enjoy when the sun came out, an outdoor area that felt like an extension of their home.

The Solution

Our solution involved a complex design. At the front of the property we laid a porcelain patio with planting space around the edge. In doing so created a strong border for the garden and with subtle details like the planting inlays working into the patio, it draws you into the area and gives a sense of reverie – all while the client sits on their bespoke cedar wood bench and has a brew in the morning sun. The rear of the garden was equally as complex with a set of polished concrete floating steps, raised Corten steel planters, a bespoke cedar wood bench, trellis and a porcelain patio. All aspects brought colour and texture to what was a dead space. Having lots of planting both raised and ground level will also increase this new environment with life and colour. This small space is now framed with beautifully designed aspects and built out of amazing materials, all for the owner to enjoy.

The Result

The overall result was that both the front and back garden added financial and personal value to the property, as well as providing two areas that can be enjoyed when the sun is shining.
The client is
ecstatic, and we are pleased with the intricate design we created.

We can work with both large gardens that span the length of a field, and smaller, more personal spaces that need a touch of love that will leave you the envy of the street. To book a free consultation with our team and discover what’s possible with your outdoor area, click the button below.
